Roaring River Elementary is located off Highway 268, and is wholeheartedly supported by the town that shares its name. The community here is a super sweet community. They're very generous. They always are ready to give when we ask for help, and they're willing to do anything for the kids here. The secret of their success begins with the educators. The staff here are amazing. Truly. They're the best. Anything that I've asked, they jump up to do. They are leaders. They are leaders amongst each other. They are leaders in their community. They go above and beyond to help the students and each other. They're just a pretty amazing staff. It's obvious teachers are valued greatly here, including Ms. Redding, who teachers some of the youngest students at Roaring River. Ms. Redding is a just a phenomenal teacher. She teaches kindergarten, and she is the most loving, nurturing person. She does a really great job of teaching her students social emotional learning. Helping them become mindful She teaches them strategies to calm down when they're upset, and setting goals for her students and helping them reach them. For me, teaching a child means more than just teaching reading and math. It means getting to know that child. Greeting that child in the morning to see what kind of night they had the night before. Are they coming in happy? Are they coming in sad? Building a relationship with each child because the child trusts me. Feels safe at school. So the child can learn. Roaring River Elementary is excited about a new program recently added...Bluejay Leaders! The Bluejay Leaders is a new program that was started this year for 5th grade students to give thems some leadership skills in our school. All of our fifth grade students were given a list of leadership opportunities that they could choose from because we really want to encourage our students to take ownership of their learning environment. Well, I am a recycler. We have jobs that we do, and there's also the people who get the mail. And, there's some people who do library and other things like that. And, people who paint the rock. And, it's all stuff that helps the school. Roaring River is a small community and always happy to accept new students moving into the area. If there was a new student, I would show them around the school, and I would be their friend. All the kids here are friendly, and it's very fun. This is a special school with big plans and the determination to see them through. This year, our theme is "Life is better at the River," and I truly believe that this year, life is definitely better at the river. We are going places, and we are making things happen this year. And, it's a totally different feel than it ever has been before, and so I'm really excited about that, and I can't wait to see what else we accomplish. I am so grateful to be a teacher at Roaring River Elementary, to be a part of this school and part of the community. I would not want to be anywhere else.
